love that caldera!! this is making me want to go on a hike at some point.

i think the only book i've read on that list is Court of Mist And Fury LOL. i am a SJM girlie, what can i say? although please do yourself a favour and don't read the Crescent City series. just finished it last month and it was a real SLOG. i'm a 'physical books' person but i read pretty much exclusively on my kindle, unless it's a book my sister or boyfriend has leant me. currently working through the Hannibal series after reading Silence of the Lambs and loving it.

Sounds like a super cool trip! I have to disagree with the other commenter about sandals though, I love my Tevas! Chacos are great but only if you don’t have wide feet lol. My tevas got me through a field course in the Bahamas without getting destroyed by the sharp karst, so I stand by them.

In 2004 I got a couple gigs as the Geological Study Leader for Smithsonian Journeys in Iceland. Constrained to tourist areas, but still a fine trip and incredible to get paid to talk about glaciers, geysers, basalt, and rifts. Favorite part, conventional but still cool, the rift at Þingvellir (Thingvellir).
